IMAP and San Lucas Toliman

Our group headed to IMAP today first thing in the morning. We enjoyed a delicious lunch and conversation with IMAP staff and gathered for a discussion about permaculture, its role in society and why IMAP practices it. It is clear that there is deep passion and value regarding permaculture at IMAP as it relates to learning from the earth in order to create lasting and sustainable systems.  We enjoyed a tour of the IMAP’s farm and then headed to San Lucas Toliman for a walking tour of the town.  Highlights of the walking tour were observing people preparing for Nov. 1 All Saints day in Guatemala and seeing family members beautifying the spaces where loved ones are buried with flowers and fresh paint on their cement tombs as well as preparations for a 3 day town party in San Lucas.  We ended the night enjoying dinner and conversation with staff from IMAP and building relationships with our partners.
