All of us enjoying dinner at Sam’s Pizza with fabulous SLT Scholars and staff
In March 2025, co-leaders Jennifer Harrison and Graduate Assistant Jennifer Purrenhage left with five women students in nursing, social work, film, biomedical sciences and marketing for Guatemala City. After arriving in San Lucas Toliman we began our work with IMAP and San Lucas Toliman Scholars, building spiral gardens and having the opportunity to participate in a Mayan fire ceremony and learn about Permaculture. As always our stay at Posada Los Volcanes with Filipe and his family was a great start to our trip. Then we traveled to Panahachel and San Antonio for solar light installations, senior programming, and preschool lessons during Carnival in partnership with Natun Guatemala. We got to see the ceramics and the beautiful view of Volcan Pacaya y Volcan Atitlan in San Antonio. Then we traveled to Iximche to the Katchikal ruins and then on to Antigua at the beginning of the Lenten season for our last night. Great women…great experiences!
